I got my master’s degree in informatics many years ago in 1980 in Moscow. That was followed by PhD degree in applied mathematics in 1987. At that time, I developed models and software for an optimal design of big gas pipeline systems.
So, my entire career has been dedicated to mathematical modelling and software development. The focus of my interests lies in the formalization of different aspects of application areas and software. That relates to formal languages, formal descriptions, requirements, models, and evaluations. This is to my mind the basis of a proper understanding of existing processes and patterns and the way to improvement.
Last twenty years I worked with SIX Group (Swiss Stock Exchange) in software testing and data analysis. As a tester, test manager, and team head I contributed to building up of the testing landscape on agile principles. Test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test automation for end-to-end testing and separate components. Under them are downstream systems like data the warehouse or the supervision system.
Databases, data analysis, and data quality belonged as well to areas of my work.
Before SIX, I worked for five years with Ascom (Switzerland), about ten years with ECI Telecom and Telrad Networks in Israel, and ten years with Research Institute for Automation in Gas Industry in Moscow.
Now that I am an independent consultant, I am using my knowledge and eagerly learning new technologies, methods, and tools to better support my customers.
